Home, Sweet Homewood! (Easter Break)

It's been a while since you don't have news of our adventures here in the USA, don't you think is time?

After St. Louis we were soooo into our studies (hahaha) that we didn't have time to update the blog... but then Easter Break arrived. We have had a great time at Nata's house, she and her family invited us to enjoy the traditions of this vacation as if we were at home so that's what this post is about,, our unforgettable time in Homewood.

We arrived to Homewood, a small town in the outskirts of Chicago, the 21st of april. Nata showed us her neighborhood before having dinner with her family. Afterwards, we enjoyed a Vikings High-School Girl Soccer Game where her sister, Suzanne, plays. It was such a fun experience as well as freezing (we spent all the game covering ourselves with some blankets). Vikings won by a punch of points, but the best of the night came when a boy jumped to the field and asked one of the girls to go to Prom with him. Meanwhile his friends were in the terraces supporting him by showing PROM written in their chests. AWWW SO CUTE!!! (and so American... hahah). We ended the day in the basement, watching "The King's Speech".

Next day Chicago was waiting for us. We had the chance to understand why they call it "Windy City", there was such a bad weather... it was raining cats and dogs :( Our boots were flooded, the umbrellas broke... Anyway, the fog around the skyscrapers created a magical scene of the city that we will never forget. We spent the day shopping (as walking in the streets was mission impossible) and took the train back early cause the rest of the family was waiting for the Spanish Chefs and the Spanish Tortillas we were about to cook for them.

After that we spent the night painting the typical Easter Eggs with little Carter and Evelyn. Eggs that the Easter Bunny (Paddles) was supposed to hide all over the house during Saturday night so that everyone went find them next morning and get their Easter Basket full of candy.

As we didn't have time to do all our shopping (yes, we love shopping), we went back to Chicago downtown on Sunday too, where we enjoyed a beautiful sunny day. We had lunch in the 95th floor of John Hanckok tower and took a water taxi through the Chicago River to the Navy Pier. We also visited the beach and other nice areas in the city. Once back at Homewood Nata and Adam prepared a bonfire where we had the chance to eat marshmallows with m&m's. Just a perfect ending of the day!

Easter day started with Nata and her sister looking for various dozens of eggs all over the house... their basket was waiting!! We went to the church and then hang out before having easter dinner with all the siblings (they are such a big family: Nata's mum and dad, 8 siblings with their partners, 6 grandchildren...). It was more like a banquette full of delicious food and nice company. After finding eggs with the children we took the car and come back to Milwaukee, singing all the way and saying bye to a wonderfull holiday.

Thank you a lot for everything Nat! We will always remember our days with your family!! Thanks to all of them!! You are just AMAZING!
